1. Do not get caught up in bloodlines. Many owners of pit bulls do not even know how to read pedigrees, and they make up stuff to try to impress someone into buying their dog. A bloodline is the kennel that a dog came from. An Americah Pit Bull Terrier is an American Pit Bull Terrier no matter what bloodline he/she came from.If a dog is 50% Razor's Edge then 50% of that dogs ancestors came from Razor's Edge Kennels. It is important, especially if you may want to show a dog, to pay close attention to pedigrees but do not base your purchase on someone telling you all the different bloodlines of a pit bull. I have listed our dogs bloodlines above if you are interested but that is not why I want someone to purchase our dogs. I want people to buy from us for the quality of our dogs.
2. Look at the quality of the puppy you are purchasing. Look at the build, color, temperment, height, or anything else you are looking for in the dog. Take great care of the dog feeding it nutritional dog food, vitamins, supplements, grooming, and regular vet check-ups will make a huge difference in how a dog turns out as an adult.
3. Look at both parents of the puppy. Many make the mistake of only looking at the father. Both parents' genetics are in the puppy so pay attention to both parents. Chances are the puppy will have a similar build to the parents.
4. Look at the dog's owners. If you catch a bad vibe, then do not purchase a dog from them. An owner of a pit bull should be knowledgeable of the breed and is eager to answer any questions you may have. A responsible owner attempts to preserve the breed by educating the public about this terrific yet misunderstood breed.
5. Look at the kennel you are purchasing the dog from. Make sure the kennels are nice and clean. Responsible owners Do Not Chain their dogs. They have nice dog pens with exercise areas. Good kennels help to ensure the owners care about their dogs and this will also produce healthier puppies.
6 Buy from people who are responsible and treat you the way you deserve to be treated. if they are rude or disrepectful to you then they are even worse to their dogs. We do not want pit bulls out there that come from irresponsible owners, backyard breeders or people that do not respect other people. That is one reason how pit bulls get a bad reputation.
